Millinery

Millinery was one of the finer skills taught at Rose Bruford College. Below are three hats are namely spoon bonnets and a Fedora

In the 19th Century, women wore hats or bonnets in public and outdoors.  Women’s hair was kept covered and the head coverings were needed to accommodate the hairstyles underneath.  Bonnet brims protected the face and eyes from the elements.  Hat pins were used to keep the bonnets in place from shifting or falling off.  The ribbons would tie up under the chin.
